Introducing new online banking

Managing your accounts is about to get even easier!

Beginning January 12, 2021, Cathay Bank will introduce new online banking, allowing you to manage your finances more simply and efficiently.

With our new unified banking experience, you can access the same features and functions on any device – mobile, tablet or desktop! And our new Send Money feature will make it easier than ever to send payments.

Our online banking service gives you access to your accounts any time you need it. From checking your balance and viewing statements to paying bills and handling your overall finances, Cathay Bank makes accessing and managing your finances easy and convenient.

Cathay’s new online banking platform provides flexible options at your fingertips, customized to your preferences, along with ensuring the highest level of security for your accounts.

 

What to expect at first login

  1. Login on the device of your choice.
  2. The first time you login, you’ll receive a Secure Access Code via text or phone call.
  3. Once you have verified your Code, you will have the opportunity to create your password and, if desired, register your devices and browser preferences for future ease of login. Unregistered devices will require a Secure Access Code each time.
  4. Set your language preference (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, or Spanish).

Important Information You Need to Know

1. Will my current mobile app still work?

2. Can I use my same user ID and password?

Yes, use your existing user ID and password to access the site. Upon initial login starting January 12, 2021, you will be required to update your password to meet all of the following requirements if it does not already do so:

  • Length between 8 and 99 characters
  • Include lower case
  • Include upper case
  • Include at least one special character

3. Will my alert settings be saved?

You will need to reset your Account alerts starting January 12, 2021.

4. What is Send Money?

Send Money is our new payments transfer feature that will replace PeoplePayment. Send Money will be available beginning January 12, 2021.

5. Info about Cathay PeoplePayment

We have replaced Cathay PeoplePayment with Send Money payment service on our new online banking and mobile platform. To use Send Money, you must have a Cathay Bank debit card linked to a Cathay Bank checking account. If you do not currently have an active debit card, please visit your nearest branch.

6. Will I still be able to see my connected accounts in PFM (Personal Finance Manager)?

Once you can access the new system, you must relink your accounts and reset any other budget or tracking information in Financial Tools.

7. What if I have a Power of Attorney on file with you?

Power of attorney/agent access in online or mobile banking will no longer be available to you if you are an agent or attorney-in-fact on someone else’s account. Please advise the accountholder of this new limitation.

If you have an agent or attorney-in-fact designation on your account, that person will no longer have access to your account via online or mobile.

8. SMS text short code is changing

The short code from where you receive SMS text messages for things like account alerts will change from 20736 to 86434 and 46099.

9. Will I still be able to use Text Banking?

Text banking service is no longer available. Please utilize one of our other self-service channels to obtain your banking information: telephone, online and mobile banking.

10. Will E-Statements still work?

If you were already enrolled in e-statements prior to January 12, 2021, you will need to re-enroll for E-Statements. To re-enroll, Under Services > Statement Delivery, customers must change the Delivery Preference from "Electronic Statements" to "Paper Statements" and then back to "Electronic Statements" again. Then click the "I accept the E-Statement Delivery Disclosure," Check the box, then click "Submit."
